Free evaluation, no obligation — your written offer is yours to keep, and you can decide on your own time.

At Haven Coin & Jewelry, every evaluation is conducted in person by Matt at our Hamden storefront. We don't send items out, we don't use remote valuations, and we don't give estimates over the phone without seeing the piece. Everything is evaluated face to face at our counter at 2285 Whitney Ave — because that's the only way to do it right.

What We Evaluate

Every item is assessed individually by our licensed dealer — not lumped together, not rushed.

Gold Jewelry

Rings, necklaces, bracelets, and earrings in all styles and conditions. All karats from 10K to 24K evaluated at live spot prices.

Silver Jewelry

Sterling silver, 925 silver, and antique silver pieces of all types. We assess both metal content and any collectible or designer value.

Coins & Currency

U.S. and foreign coins, rare dates, proof sets, and paper currency. Numismatic value assessed alongside melt value where applicable.

Bullion

Gold and silver bars, American Eagles, Maple Leafs, Krugerrands, and other bullion coins. Priced against live spot at time of evaluation.

Estate Collections

Inherited collections evaluated piece by piece, not as a bulk lot. We take the time to give each item the individual attention it deserves.

Sterling Silver Flatware

Silverware sets, serving pieces, and hollowware evaluated for both silver content and pattern collectibility. We buy complete sets and partial sets.

What We Actually Look at During Your Evaluation

Most people come in knowing they have something valuable — but not knowing exactly what. Here's what we check on every piece:

For Coins

Date, mint mark, grade, strike quality, surface preservation, and whether the coin has been cleaned or altered. A 1921 Morgan dollar and a 1921-S Morgan dollar can have very different values — and that difference comes down to one small letter on the coin.

For Gold Jewelry

Karat marking, actual tested metal content, weight, stone presence and quality, and whether the piece has any maker's marks or designer significance.

For Bullion

Authenticity testing, weight verification, and current live spot price at the moment of your visit — not a number from yesterday or last week.

We explain every one of these factors to you before we make an offer. You leave understanding exactly what you brought in.
